How do I travel to Palau?

You can travel to Palau by plane. There is only one airport in Palau - Airai (ROR), on the island of Babeldaob. There are flights to Palau from the following countries:

All visitors arriving in the Republic of Palau must have a valid passport (at least 6 months old) and proof of return to their country of residence.

Visa on arrival

Citizens of any country except Myanmar and Bangladesh can obtain a visa upon arrival. The visa is valid for a maximum stay of 30 days, but can be extended twice for a fee. To obtain a visa upon arrival, visitors must have proof of sufficient funds (USD 200 per week).

You will need to provide official documents regarding your citizenship, country of residence, purpose of visit and duration of visit;

The list of required documents for Visa on arrival:

Original passport that will be valid for at least 6 months at the time of your departure from Palau.
You will have to pay 100 USD as an environmental fee if you visit Palau. This amount will most likely be deducted by the international airline you are traveling with. It will be used to preserve Palau's heritage and environment.
Proof of vaccination against cholera and yellow fever.
Confirmation of availability of round-trip tickets to and from Palau.
Confirmation of your accommodation, hotel reservation, or an invitation letter from your place of residence. The dates of these documents must match the dates on your airline tickets to ensure that there are no discrepancies in your visa application.

Visa upon arrival in Palau

Prior visas are required for citizens of the following countries: Bangladesh, Myanmar.

The application process is different for Bangladeshi and Myanmar nationals, as they must apply for a visa before they arrive in Palau from their country of residence. Citizens of these two countries should contact the Palauan diplomatic mission in their home country, other representative offices, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Unless your dog or cat enters Palau from a not OIE (World Organization for Animal Health) recognized rabies-free country, your pet will be quarantined upon entry to Palau.

Microchip implant for animals

The Republic of Palau does not require your pet to be identified with a microchip, but this is recommended. You can also register your contact information before traveling to identify if your pet is lost or disassociated. If your pet does not have a registered microchip, ensure that your animals are tagged.

Vaccination

Your cat or dog must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days and no later than 12 months before entering Palau. Dogs must be vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, and canine parvovirus at least one month and no later than three months before travel. Cats must be vaccinated against feline panleukopenia at least one month and no later than twelve months before travel and feline viral rhinotracheitis at least one month and no later than six months before departure.

Rabies titer test

A rabies titer test is not required to enter Palau from any country.

Health certificate

A licensed veterinarian must complete a veterinary certificate for Palau within 48 hours of travel. If you are traveling from the United States or Canada, a USDA or CFIA accredited veterinarian must complete the form, and the USDA or CFIA must validate it. If you are traveling from another country, your country's government authority responsible for importing or exporting animals must approve the forms.

Import permit

Before entering Palau, you must apply for an import permit from the head of agriculture.

Entry into the Republic of Palau by air

Pets must enter Palau through Roman Tmetuhla International Airport. The approximate time and date of arrival in Palau, as well as the airline/flight number, must be provided to the Head of Agriculture as soon as possible and no later than one working day before your pet's arrival. In addition, you will need to carry a declaration with your pet's information.

Puppies and kittens

Puppies and kittens under four months cannot enter Palau from any country. Vaccination against rabies cannot be given to puppies and kittens under three months of age.
