Citizens of most countries do not a visa to enter Palestine. The length of stay should not exceed 90 days in the span of 180 days.

In Palestine there are no customs or visa offices, as well as border control. A previously functioning international airport of Gaza, located in the Rafah city in the furthest southern part of the Gaza Strip, was ruined in 2002. Therefore, entry into the territory of the country (with the exception of the Gaza Strip, where access to foreigners is limited) is carried out through Israeli checkpoints, so the first stop on the way to Palestine will be Israel itself.

You can also get to Palestine by land from Egypt (Rafah checkpoint) to the Gaza Strip and from Jordan (Allenby Bridge checkpoint) to the West Bank. In each of the countries, buses go to the border, then you need to cross it on foot (the Rafah checkpoint) or take a special bus (the Allenby Bridge checkpoint), and then take a local bus.

Rules of entry to Palestine

At Israeli checkpoints, it is necessary to present documents and explain the purpose of the visit to Palestine.

The military officers conduct selective inspections of personal belongings, transport and luggage.

The Israeli officers have the right to refuse entry to Palestinian territories without explanation. The entry of foreigners into the territory of the Gaza Strip is limited.

Required documents for crossing the border:

The foreign passport, valid for 6 months after the end of the trip;
Return plane tickets;
Accommodation reservation in Palestine (hotels, apartments, hostel);
Confirmation of financial capacity: cash, bank cards, checks;
Medical insurance.

Necessary documents for crossing the border with children:

For children over 14 years of age: foreign passport, valid for 6 months after the end of the trip;
Children under 14 years of age: original or copy of birth certificate, translated into English;
For children under 18 years of age, in the case of independent travel or travel accompanied by third parties: a notarized consent for the child to leave the country of residence, specifying the country and period of stay from parents or guardians, translated into English.

Tourists planning a tour to Palestine have to obtain a corresponding permit, or visit the country as part of a tourist group (in this case, the travel agent takes care of the permit). In order to find out about the procedure of issuance of an entry permit contact the nearest Israeli embassy.

Obtaining a visa to enter Palestine

Since the Palestinian Authority does not control Israel's state borders, it is not responsible for issuing visas. Entry to Palestine is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Israel. The Government of Israel and its authorities are responsible for providing you with a tourist visa to visit Palestine upon your arrival, or through the embassy/consulate prior to your visit.

Visas are usually issued upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) in Israel to citizens of countries who are exempt from tax, or at the border control at the Allenby-King Hussein Bridge on the border with Jordan. Since many Arab countries do not accept Israeli stamps in passports, Israel now issues a visa on a separate small card with a bar code (Electronic Gate Pass) that indicates the validity period of the visa. Please keep this visa card with your passport at all times. This is proof of your legal entry into Israel and may be required, in particular, at any checkpoints in the Palestinian territories.

If your country of residence does not have a visa-free agreement with Israel, you will need to obtain a visa from the Israeli embassy/consulate before your visit. The visa is issued for a period of 3 months.

Passengers are prohibited from transiting through the Palestinian Territories.

To import pets into the Palestinian Territories, all pets must have:

Microchip for pets;
Vaccinations;

Your dog or cat must be vaccinated against rabies between 30 days and 12 months prior to entry.

Anti-rabies antibody titer test;

The test should be done no earlier than 31 days after the rabies vaccination.

Import permit;

Pet owners must obtain an import permit from a veterinary service prior to travel.

Health certificate;

The veterinary certificate must be stamped by the government of the exporting country responsible for the import and export of animals.

At Israeli airports and at the checkpoint in Rafah, there is a "green corridor" through which people who do not have goods that need to be declared (on themselves and in their accompanying baggage) pass. When crossing the border between Israel and the autonomous part, customs control is not carried out.

Import and export of currency in any form is not limited. You can import up to 1 liter of alcoholic beverages, up to 250 g of perfumes, up to 250 cigarettes or up to 250 g of tobacco, gifts worth no more than $200, as well as personal items.

In addition, the following goods are exempt from taxes if they are small:

Typewriters;
Cameras and film cameras (with the exception of video cameras);
Radio receivers, tape recorders, binoculars;
Personal jewelry;
Musical Instruments;
Strollers for babies;
Sports and camping equipment, bicycles and other tools of the tourist.

It is strictly forbidden to import drugs, weapons and ammunition, plants and animals without special documents. Strict control over the transportation of antiques and works of art, as well as video equipment, computers and other media (declared and allowed only on bail).

Antique products made before 1700 are defined as handmade items that can be exported from Israel only with the written permission of the Director of the Antiquities Office. In this, the selling price is subject to an additional 10% export tax.

A domestic driver's license is valid only if you have an international driver's license with you.

You must be at least 21 years old to rent a car. A young driver surcharge may also apply to those under the age of 25.
