Ranking of countries by the number of pickpocketing crimes
A team of experts studied reviews of the main tourist attractions in European countries and found out in which descriptions tourists most often mention pickpockets.
Italy took the first place in the anti-rating. Travelers mentioned the theft of things in their reviews of the country's iconic sights: in Rome, they are the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon, as well as the Duomo di Milano in Milan and the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence.
France took second place on the list, most of the country's landmarks are under threat, including the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The Netherlands was in third place, and Germany was in fourth place. Greece rounds out the top five.
It is interesting to note that although Barcelona is quite often called the pickpocketing capital of Europe, Spain only took sixth place in the ranking.
Experts also advise to be vigilant in Portugal, Turkey, Ireland and Poland.
Of course, theft can happen anywhere, but tourist attractions are an ideal place, because tourists are busy sightseeing and not so focused on their own belongings, and the large number of people also helps thieves remain invisible.
