Starting April 1, 2025, Namibia will introduce a new electronic Visa-on-Arrival (e-VoA) system that aims to simplify the entry process for international travelers. The initiative is part of the country’s broader strategy to attract foreign investors and tourists from Nigeria, the Philippines and other countries around the world by simplifying visa procedures.

Who is eligible for a Visa-on-Arrival (e-VoA) in Namibia?


Starting April 1, 2025, visitors from the following 90 countries and territories can apply for an e-visa before traveling to Namibia:


- African Countries

Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, and Western Sahara.


- Other countries

Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Moldova, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vatican, Venezuela and Vietnam.


How to apply for an e-visa to Namibia?


To apply for an e-visa for Namibia, follow these steps:


Step 1 – Visit the official portal

Go to the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration and Security of Namibia and complete the registration procedure.


Step 2 – Fill out the online form

After registering an account, the user needs to fill out an online form that contains the following questions:

- Personal details (surname, first name, marital status, etc.).

- Passport details (number, date and place of issue, etc.).

- Information about the planned trip to Namibia (purpose of visit, dates of stay, place of residence, point of entry, etc.).


Step 3 – Upload the required documents

At the end of the form, e-visa applicants must upload the following documents:

- Scanned copy of a passport-sized photo;

- Scanned copy of the passport.


Visa decisions are usually communicated within 3-4 calendar days.

Once approved, you will receive a pre-authorized digital travel document through the portal.


Visa fee for Namibia visa


Visa fee:

- For non-African citizens – NAD 1,600 (approximately USD 90);

- For African citizens – NAD 1,200 (approximately USD 70).


How long is the Namibia e-Visa valid?


The e-VoA is valid for 30 days from the date of arrival and allows multiple entries during this period.

It is worth noting that travelers can use the e-VoA at certain points of entry, including:

1. Windhoek Osea Kutako International Airport.

2. Walvis Bay International Airport.

3. Walvis Bay Harbour.

4. Ariamsvlei Border Post (with South Africa).

5. Impalila Island Border Post.

6. Katima Mulilo Border Post (with Zambia).

7. Mohembo Border Post (with Botswana).

8. Ngoma Border Post (with Botswana).

9. Noordoewer Border Post (with South Africa).

10. Oranjemund Border Post (with South Africa).

11. Osikango Border Post (with Angola).

12. Trans-Kalahari Border Post (with Botswana).


What documents are required upon arrival in Namibia?


Upon arrival in Namibia, travelers must present the following documents at immigration:

- Valid passport (at least 6 months remaining validity and at least 3 blank pages).

- Printed approved e-visa.

- Documentary proof of financial capacity.

- Proof of residence or invitation from the host country.

- Return or onward flight ticket.

- Medical or travel insurance.

- Child’s birth certificate or parental consent letter if traveling with minors.


The introduction of the e-VoA system is expected to improve the travel experience in Namibia by allowing tourists to apply for a visa from the comfort of their homes, ensuring a smoother and more efficient process for entering Namibia.
