Foreigners from countries that support visa-free travel can enter Poland for treatment without an additional acquisition of a visa given that the length of their stay would not exceed 90 days. If the foreigner travels to Poland for a long-term treatment (more than three months), they should apply for a national visa.
Foreigners traveling to Poland under the visa regime must obtain a national visa for treatment abroad.
A visa issued in Poland for medical reasons is often called a medical visa, although legally it is a national visa, the application for which states "treatment abroad" as the purpose of the trip. All individuals traveling to Poland for treatment are advised to indicate during the visa application process that the visa application is for medical reasons. The Consulate officials will then be able to take into account the wishes and purpose of the applicant's trip at the very beginning of the procedure and make a decision based on this information.
Please note that when crossing the border, the guards may ask you for an invitation from the clinic or medical facility where you will be treated. An invitation (certificate) from a medical institution should be obtained before crossing the border.
Visa applications are accepted at Polish embassies abroad.
