Foreigners who want to work or study in Qatar need a residence permit. Here are the conditions required to obtain a residence permit in Qatar:
Entry to Qatar is carried out with a one-time visa.
A foreign citizen must undergo a blood test to detect possible diseases such as HIV and a chest X-ray.
An employment contract or a document from a university
The residence permit is issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Qatar.
According to Article No. 1 of Law No. 10 of 2018 on Permanent Residence, the State of Qatar grants permanent residence to persons who are not citizens of Qatar, subject to four main conditions:
Residence period of at least 20 years in the State of Qatar for non-Qatari born outside Qatar and 10 years for Qatari-born applicants.
The availability of legal means for earning, sufficient to meet the needs of oneself and the family.
No criminal record.
Good knowledge of the Arabic language.
The following are exempt from the above conditions:
Children of Qatari women who married non-Qatari men
A man who is not Qatari, but married to a Qatari
A non-Qatari wife who married a Qatari
People with special competencies that the state needs
The residence permit is issued by the Ministry of Interior of Qatar.
Acquiring citizenship in Qatar is possible in several ways:
By birth Children born in Qatar to unknown parents are Qatari citizens by birth.
By origin:
Individuals who can claim Qatari ancestry can apply for Qatari citizenship subject to certain conditions.
Persons born to a Qatari father are citizens of Qatar, regardless of their place of birth.
By naturalization. Foreigners may be granted citizenship if they meet the following conditions
Legal continuous residence in Qatar for 25 years.
Legal income.
No criminal record.
Practical knowledge of the Arabic language.
Please note that Qatari law limits the granting of citizenship to no more than 50 individuals per year.

Qatar does not recognize dual citizenship. Possession of foreign citizenship may result in loss of Qatari citizenship.
