To acquire a residency permit for St Vincent and the Grenadines,the following procedures must be followed:

1) Complete the Residence Application Form (in duplicate)

2) Return Application Form in duplicate to the Prime Minister's Office

3) Two passport-sized photos (certified)

4) A Police Certificate of Character from the country where the applicant has most recently resided for a period in excess of six months.

5) A recent Bank Statement or other evidence of the applicant's current financial resources. In lieu of this,the applicant may submit a letter of support from an individual or from his/ her employer (if he plans to be employed locally),where by the employer will accept financial responsibility for the applicant.

6) Medical Certificate

7) The documents will be sent to Cabinet for approval.

Temporary Residence Fees are as follows:

CARICOM = EC$600.00 per annum

Commonwealth = EC$1,200.00 per annum

All Others = EC$1,800.00 per annum

Plus an application Fee of EC$150.00 which is non-refundable

Permanent Residence Fees are as follows:

CARICOM = EC$ 1,800.00

Non-CARICOM citizens having an interest in land in St Vincent and the Grenadines must pay a fee of EC$6,000.00 Plus an Application Fee of EC$150.00 which is non-refundable

Commonwealth = EC$ 1,800.00 per annum

All Others = EC$ 2,400.00 per annum

Plus an application Fee of EC$ 150.00 which is non-refundable

Vincentian nationality is acquired through birth, registration, or naturalization.

By birth

- Persons who are born within the territory, except if the parent has diplomatic immunity or is a national of a country at war with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines;

- Persons who are born abroad to at least one parent who was born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; or

- Persons born upon aircraft or ships registered in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines or unregistered aircraft or ships belonging to the government.

By registration

Nationality by registration includes those who have familial or historic relationship affiliations with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Persons who acquire nationality by registration include:

- The spouse of a national of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines;

- Commonwealth citizens, who are ordinary residents of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and who have resided in the territory for seven years;

- Minor persons who were born to a Vincentian parent who would have acquired such nationality had their parent not died prior to independence;

- Minors under age twenty-one who are legally adopted by or the step-child of a national; or

- Any minor, at the discretion of the Minister.

By naturalisation

Ordinary naturalization in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines can be obtained by adult persons of legal capacity, who in the 12 months prior to submitting an application resided in the territory, are of good character, and intend to be a resident of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Applicants petition the Minister responsible for immigration, who considers whether the applicant has adequate knowledge of the English language; and has resided within the territory, worked for the government, or has combined residency and government service for nine years. Upon approval, applicants must take an Oath of Allegiance and may be required to renounce their citizenship of origin.

Requirements for Citizenship

Persons wishing to acquire Citizenship of St Vincent and the Grenadines are required to:

1) Complete the attached Citizenship Application Form (in duplicate) and return it to the address below along with two passport-size studio photographs of the applicant and their spouse (certified).

2) Birth Certificate or Passport of applicant and their spouse.

3) Marriage Certificate.

4) A Police Certificate of Character from the country where the applicant had most recently resided for a period in excess of six months.

5) Medical Certificate.

6) Application fee of EC$125.00 (non-refundable).

7) On approval of the application pay a registration fee EC$1,800.00

8) All documents must be original.
