Expats do not have access to medical care in Saudi Arabia, so there is no standardized registration procedure.
—
Issuance of visas for the purpose of treatment is not provided. If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa to enter Saudi Arabia, you should apply for a regular visa to come for treatment.
These days, health insurance is mandatory for all foreign nationals entering the country to help maintain existing health infrastructure.
Typically, there are two forms of insurance used by expats: employer assistance and/or private health insurance for expats.
—
Your employer must register you for private health insurance, and after that, you will receive a health insurance card. You can use your health insurance card for private health services and institutions.
—
Registration procedures differ from different individual suppliers, however, you will probably have to provide the following:
- Passport/valid ID with photo
- Residence permit or visa
- Confirmation of address
—
The health insurance policy should cover any costs that may arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical intervention, treatment in a medical institution, or death during the stay

- The documents are also likely to be issued in English.
A targeted visit to Saudi Arabia to have a child is not legally defined. Pregnant tourists don't get to this country very often. However, if the baby was born in Saudi Arabia, the mother would most likely have to pay the hospital bill in advance, in cash if she did not have insurance.

Birth certificate
In Saudi Arabia, there is a rather complicated procedure to obtain a birth certificate of a child. After giving birth, the hospital will give you a confirmation of the birth of the child. This is not a birth certificate. It simply informs the relevant authorities about the birth. The confirmation will contain the following information:
Personal information of parents, including their nationality, passport numbers, and Iqama;
- Prints of the legs of a newborn child;
- The name of the newborn child.
This document must be submitted to the Department of Civil Affairs. This department will issue an official birth certificate. Ask the hospital staff where the nearest Civil Affairs Office in your city is located.
Requirements for obtaining a birth certificate for parents of a child who are not Saudi citizens:
1. Original birth report from the relevant hospital;
2. Original passports of parents and a copy of each;
3. Original residence permit of parents and copy of each;
4. All submitted documents must be valid;
5. The specified application form No. 87, properly completed.

Will your child be granted Saudi citizenship?
Even though your child was born in a desert land, your child will not receive Saudi citizenship. Saudi citizenship is granted to children born in or outside the Kingdom if they were born to a father with Saudi citizenship.
