In order to enter Switzerland from any country you do not need a PCR test, a certificate of vaccination or one that proves your recovery.

    Without a visa, your stay in the country must not be longer than 90 days in the span of 180 days. This concerns such cases, when you are traveling as a tourist, are visiting friends or family, are participating in business, cultural or sports events. 

    A longer stay is available, however, you are required to apply for a visa or a residence permit (see below).

    All tourists from outside of Schengen Area need a Biometric passport issued less than 10 years before the day of departure (check “Issue date”) and one that will be valid for three months after the day of departure (check “Expiration date”). They also need an insurance policy for the entire time of stay in the country. 

    Travel insurance policy must meet the following requirements:

• A minimum coverage of 30000 Euros;
• Validity in all Schengen countries.

    It is recommended to increase the insurance coverage of the policy since there is a variety of opportunities for participation in active sports in Switzerland.

    If you don’t have a biometric passport of are a citizen of a country without a visa-free entry to Switzerland, you will need a type C Schengen visa for entry and stay of less than 90 days in the span of 180 days, in the context of, for example, tourism, visiting friends, short-term language learning, etc. 

    To be issued a short-term Schengen visa, you need to apply not sooner than six months before your planned visit into the Schengen Area.

    Please note that you do not need a visa if you have a residence permit, issued by a member state of the Schengen Agreement, or a valid type D visa for a long-term stay (national visa, which is considered an equivalent for a residence permit), issued by a member state of the Schengen Agreement.

    Which additional documents are required for an entry to Switzerland?

• A confirmation of the trip planning: booking of flights/ round trip or different proof of predictable transport and the entire route of your visit to Switzerland (if you are visiting a number of Schengen member-states or if the trip consists of some Schengen and Non-Schengen member-states).
• Tourist medical insurance for Switzerland – states that you are insured in case of emergency medical care and repatriation not only in Switzerland, but also in the entire Schengen Area (minimum coverage of 30000 Euros).
• A confirmation of accommodation in Switzerland:

A proof of hotel booking, or a lease agreement, or an invitation from a Switzerland citizen (family member, friend) with a scan of a passport or and ID-card (proof of sponsorship if dependent).

• A proof of financial security:

As the European Commission states, in accordance with the Swiss Aliens Act of December 16, 2005 (RS 142.20), a foreigner, who wants to enter Switzerland, has to be able to confirm the availability of at least 100 Swiss francs or 92,34 Euros/ day at their disposal for their stay in Switzerland, or if a foreigner is a student with a valid student card, this sum decreases to 30 Swiss francs or 27,70  Euros/ day.
