The war has taken a toll on Syria's health care system, damaging and destroying hospitals and clinics, and forcing countless doctors and nurses to flee the country. Medical facilities that are still operating are struggling with limited supplies and equipment, as well as a shortage of trained staff, who may be overwhelmed and unable to handle a surge in cases when nearby clinics are damaged.

Issuance of visas for the purpose of treatment is not provided. If you are a citizen of a country with which Syria has a visa-free regime, you do not need a visa to enter. If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa to Syria, you should obtain a regular visa.

All tourists must take out an insurance policy for the entire period of their stay in the country. The minimum coverage should be 30,000 euros. The medical insurance policy must cover any expenses that may arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical intervention, treatment in a medical facility or death during the stay.
According to the Nationality Law, a child born in or outside of Syria from a father who has Syrian citizenship, is considered a Syrian citizen.
If a Syrian woman marries a foreign man, their children will have the husband's citizenship and will not claim Syrian citizenship, even if they were born and raised in Syria.
Also, any child born to an unknown mother or father and found (newly born) in Syria is considered to have been in Syria and is eligible for citizenship.
