Entry for employment

The requirements for obtaining a Tunisian visa may be different depending on a number of factors, including the applicant's country of residence and the estimated length of stay in Tunisia. A work visa is usually long-term and only has the right to enter, and upon arrival, you must apply for a residence and work permit at the nearest police station. However, as a rule, the following documents are required for a work visa:

• Completed visa application form
• A passport which is valid for at least six months and issued within the last 10 years
• A copy of the first page of the applicant's passport
• One or two photos with the size of the passport, depending on the requirements of a particular embassy
• Proof of accommodation in Tunis, such as renting a house or booking a hotel
• Travel itinerary with planned travel dates
• Invitation letter from an employer in Tunisia
• Proof of payment of the visa fee

In addition to these employee requirements, the employer will also have to demonstrate that there are no suitable job seekers in Tunisia for the position.

Foreigners who are wishing to work in Tunisia must sign an employment contract and have a residence permit indicating "autorisé à exercise un travail salarié en Tunisie", that is, their work permit in the country. For the most part, the employer deals with the execution of a business contract and other formalities.

Seasonal work

In Tunisia, seasonal work is designed to provide employment for people who want to work during certain periods of the year, usually during the seasons during which employers hire due to an increase in their activity. Strict rules apply to seasonal work in accordance with local labor laws, which protect seasonal workers from instability. A seasonal work contract must include a minimum duration of employment, a job description, an hourly, daily, or monthly salary, a possible probationary period, and any pension or health insurance.

Insurance

Tunisia has a medical insurance system. The contribution rate under the basic scheme is 6.75% of salary or income. This rate is distributed among insured persons who have the status of an employee, 4% is paid by the employer and 2.75% is paid by the employee. A socially insured person who works at their own expense pays the full rate of the contribution. Insurance covers basic health care. In addition, you can apply for additional coverage.
