Visitors to Uganda must apply for an electronic visa to enter Uganda, unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries. All visitors must have a passport valid for 6 months.
Visa-free regime
Citizens of the following 35 countries and territories can visit Uganda without a visa for up to 3 months (unless otherwise specified):
Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Cyprus, Eritrea, Eswatini, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Malta, Mauritius, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Sudan (6 months), Tanzania, Tonga, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Holders of diplomatic or service passports issued to citizens of India, Italy, Namibia, and South Africa don’t need a 3-month visa.
eVisa
Uganda started issuing electronic visas (E-Visa) on July 1, 2016. An electronic visa to Uganda (e-Visa) can be obtained by filling out the application form online.
It is issued as a single-entry visa that allows you to stay in the country for 90 days.
Passengers who have received an electronic visa must travel with a printed e-visa confirmation.
An approved Ugandan e-visa allows its holder to visit Uganda for tourism, medical treatment, family visits, participation in conferences, or transit to their destination.
To visit the country for a different purpose, all travelers will need to apply for a visa at the nearest diplomatic government office in Uganda.
Uganda Tourist Visa (E-visa)
A Ugandan tourist visa is issued to applicants who intend to visit Uganda for tourism and sightseeing purposes.
Required documents for obtaining a Uganda Tourist Visa (E-visa):
1. Application form - a correctly completed application form
2. Photos
- One photo with the size of the passport on a white background
3. Passport and a copy of the main page
- The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure.
4. A copy of your national identity card and residence permit/visa (if your country of residence and citizenship are different)
5. Confirmation of financial capabilities (bank statement, credit card statement)
6. Travel itinerary
- Copy of the round-trip ticket booking.
- Copy of the hotel reservation.
7. Accompanying documents Multiple Entry Visas:
For a 6-month multiple-entry visa:
- Cover letter explaining the need for a multiple-entry visa
- Proof of entry/exit from Uganda within the last 1 year
- Certificate of non-criminal record
It must be from Interpol or the country of origin
For multiple-entry visas for 12-24 months:
- Cover letter explaining the need for a multiple-entry visa
- Proof of entry/exit from Uganda within the last 1 year
- Certificate of non-criminal record (must be from Interpol or the country of origin)

Uganda East Africa Tourist Visa (E-visa)
You can carry out your tourist activities in Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya by obtaining a multiple-entry visa. This visa allows you to travel between Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda at the same time. A tourist visa to Uganda in East Africa does not allow entry to countries other than those mentioned above.
Required documents for Uganda East Africa Tourist Visa (E-visa):
1. Application form - a correctly completed application form

- One photo with the size of the passport on a white background
3. Passport and a copy of the main page
- The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure.
4. A copy of your national identity card and residence permit/visa (if your country of residence and citizenship differ).

You must specify the trip schedule in it.

Uganda Transit Visa (E-visa)
This visa applies to foreigners who wish to enter Uganda in transit for further destination outside the country. The transit visa to Uganda is valid for 2 days.
Required documents for Uganda Transit Visa (E-visa):
1. Application form - a correctly completed application form
2. Photos
One photo with the size of the passport on a white background
3. Passport and a copy of the main page
The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure
4. A copy of your national identity card and residence permit/visa (if your country of residence and citizenship are different)

Required documents to enter Uganda with pets:
1. Travel permit
An official travel permit must be obtained from the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin.
2. Certificates
A health certificate confirming that the animal isn’t sick. The certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian and duly signed and stamped.
A certificate or letter from local veterinary authorities indicating that the pet's country of origin is rabies-free.
3. Vaccinations
Dogs need vaccinations against plague, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus and rabies. Vaccinations should be given at least 30 days before arrival at any point of entry in Uganda.
Cats need vaccinations against feline antritis and rabies. Vaccinations should be given at least 30 days before arrival at any point of entry in Uganda.
4. Transportation
Dogs and cats should not come into contact with other animals during transportation. To ensure isolation, each animal should be placed in a separate box.
