All foreigners who wish to live permanently in Angola must apply for a resident visa. Its validity period is no more than 120 days, after which it can be extended until a decision is made on the possibility of allowing the applicant permanent residence on the territory of Angola. It is allowed to apply for the issuance of an Angolan residence permit after a one-year stay of a foreigner in the country.
Angola and Portugal recognized independence and formed a provisional government consisting of representatives of the FNLA, MPLA and UNITA. In the same year, the struggle between the listed groups broke out, turning into continuous civil wars today. As a result of the war, tens of thousands of citizens were killed. A large part of white citizens left Angola, and the country was in a state of almost complete economic ruin. In 1994, Angola was included in the mandate of the United Nations Monitoring Mission. In 1996, Dos Santos and Savimbi announced the creation of a government of national reconciliation, with Savimbi as vice president.
In early 1997, the UN Security Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Monitoring Mission in Angola until the formation of a government of national unity and harmony. In 1999, the Government and UNITA signed an agreement regulating presidential and parliamentary elections. Customs regulations are similar to international standards.
Imports and exports are regulated by internal rules and money, which are designed to limit the outflow of capital. You can export from Angola for up to $5000. The money that is exported must be presented at the border (and cannot be exported in the national currency).
In addition, the export of ivory, crocodile, and turtle skins is not allowed. In the case of export of works of art of all kinds (even a small object made of wood), approval from the Ministry of Culture and payment of stamp duty are required.

What is the naturalization procedure?

Residence permit in exchange for investment (when opening a company/firm/business)
Migrants who want to open their business in the territory of this republic can also get a residence permit. But in this case, you need to provide a business plan that confirms the profitability of the future project. One of the options for obtaining a residence permit is investing in someone else's business as a co-owner or investor.
But it is necessary to take into account that the amount of investment should not be less than 45 thousand dollars. In order to acquire a ready-made business for the purpose of obtaining a residence permit, it will be necessary to spend at least 200 thousand dollars.
There are three types of residence permits in Angola: temporary, type A, and type B. A temporary permit is issued for 1 year and is renewed annually for up to 5 years of stay in the country. A residence permit of type A is issued to foreigners who have lived in the country for 5 years in a row, valid for 2 years, and subject to extension for similar periods of time. A residence permit of type B is issued to foreigners who have lived in the country for more than 15 consecutive years and is valid for life.
A residence permit may be canceled if a foreigner stays in Angolan territory for less than 6 months consecutively or in total during the year, has not fulfilled the requirements for residence (late entry-exit registration, etc.), has not carried out any duly confirmed, useful activity, encroached on internal order and security in Angola.
A residence permit in Angola is a document that identifies a foreigner and confirms the legality of his/her stay in the national territory. Although its presence exempts a foreigner from the need to present an entry visa at the Angolan border, this document is not a permit to cross the border multiple times. Whenever there is a need to leave, a foreign citizen must obtain permission to leave the country from DNEFA, and upon arrival go through the registration procedure again. Otherwise, the Angolan border guards will not allow leaving the country.
A multiple-entry visa is issued at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola free of charge. At DNEFA, obtaining a residence permit and (or) issuing a multiple-entry visa officially costs $200, but the interested person is required to deposit an amount equal to the cost of a plane ticket to the country of origin to the DNEFA account in the National Bank of Angola for possible deportation. For Russian citizens, the amount of the deposit is 1,800 dollars. In the case of voluntary departure from the country, this amount must be returned to the foreigner, but its return is subject to the completion of so many formalities in a short period of time that makes receiving these funds quite unlikely.
