The government of Kazakhstan has changed the rules of entry and stay in the republic. Find out in more detail for whom the permitted period of stay in the country ends and when the changes will take effect
In Kazakhstan, the rules of entry and stay in the country have been changed. According to the new version of the resolution, foreigners who arrive in Kazakhstan without a visa will be able to legally stay in the country for 30 days, and up to 90 days in total.
We will tell you more about the changes below.
The new resolution will enter into force 10 days after the day of publication, from January 27. As of this day, the permitted period of stay of foreigners in the Republic of Kazakhstan expires:
- for immigrants who arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan in a procedure that does not require obtaining a visa, after the expiration of 30 calendar days from the day of crossing the state border, a total of 90 calendar days during each period of 180 calendar days (half a year), unless another procedure is established by the agreement RK with the relevant party or the Government of Kazakhstan;
- for citizens of EAEU member states - after the end of 90 calendar days from the day of crossing the border of Kazakhstan, a total of 90 calendar days during each period of 180 calendar days.
It will be possible to enter Kazakhstan and stay in the country for up to three months, no more than twice a year. If, upon entering the republic, a person detects a violation of rule 90/180, entry will be denied.
In order to legally stay on the territory of the country for more than 90 days (within 180 calendar days), it is necessary to issue a temporary residence permit, residence permit or citizenship.

Previously, foreigners could leave Kazakhstan and re-enter to reset the maximum period of stay in the country. Now immigrants do not have such an opportunity.
It should be noted that in the previous version of the rules there was no limit on the stay of foreigners in the country for a period of six months.
Pay attention! The new restrictions do not apply to immigrants who arrived in Kazakhstan on a visa and to those who have issued a temporary residence permit. Their period of stay in the country is limited only by the validity period of these documents.
"If, upon entry, it is established that the immigrant has exceeded the period of stay permitted to him, a decision is made to refuse entry. The calculation of the permitted period of stay is carried out by subtracting 180 calendar days from the day of control. The actual departure is 180 calendar days ago", - the document says.
