In the final declaration following an informal meeting of EU leaders, Poland blocked the part of the document that dealt with migration. This decision was announced by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a press conference in Granada, Spain. Hungary also opposed this initiative.

Mateusz Morawiecki explained his position, noting that the Polish government is "the only guarantor of preventing and avoiding the wave of illegal immigration that the EU wants to distribute and accommodate throughout Europe, including Poland." He emphasized the importance of a decisive fight against human smugglers and their intermediaries.

The Polish prime minister believes that the Polish veto on migration helps to stop the process of distribution of illegal migrants, which the EU planned to place in different countries. Thus, Poland is in favor of strengthening the protection of the EU's external borders and intensifying the fight against smugglers.

At the same time, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed an even more decisive position on the EU's migration policy. He called the mechanism for distributing refugees among EU countries "legal rape" and rejected the possibility of compromise on this issue. Viktor Orban said that this issue is politically impossible and legally unacceptable.

The position of the Polish government in the EU migration reform

This position of Poland has created tension within the EU. The controversial topic of migration has always been a serious challenge for European leaders, and the issue of refugee distribution is one of the key aspects of this dispute.

The recent decision of Poland is considered an important step in preserving national sovereignty and independence in migration issues. Poland defends its rights and confidently opposes pressure from European structures.

At this time, Poland is also taking measures to ensure security at its borders. In particular, it introduced temporary control on the border with Slovakia, which was introduced for 10 days and may be extended. This decision was made in response to the growing number of illegal migrants on the border between Poland and Slovakia.

In this difficult situation, Poland and Hungary are defending their national interests and emphasizing the importance of preserving sovereignty over migration issues. They believe that the distribution of illegal migrants should be a sovereign decision of each country, and this is becoming a subject of heated debate in the European Union.

Thus, the situation with migration reform in the EU remains extremely complex and controversial. Poland and Hungary oppose certain aspects of this reform and are actively defending their positions. This causes heated discussions and political disputes in the EU and requires a compromise between different member states.
