A permanent residence permit can be obtained through immigration in connection with:
- Marriage with a Brazilian citizen
- Family reunion
- Be a high-level scientist or researcher
- Through investment (individuals investing a minimum of R$150,000 in a Brazilian company or property may qualify)
- To be an administrator, manager or director of a professional or commercial corporation, startup.

In order to obtain a permanent residence, permit in Brazil, a pensioner or financially independent applicant, according to the current immigration law, must provide documentary proof of an annual guaranteed income equal to at least BRL 72,000 (+-168). These are the requirements for a family of three.
For each subsequent family member, you must have an additional annual income of BRL 24,000 (+-5,600 EUR).
In order to obtain a permanent residence permit (permanent residence)
in Brazil as an investor, according to the current immigration legislation, you must:

A permanent visa may also cover dependent relatives of the applicant, such as his wife, children under the age of 21 (or 24 if they are receiving higher education), or their parents. Family members will receive the same visa as the applicant.
However, keep in mind that the applicant's relatives cannot obtain a work permit in Brazil.
If you are married to a Brazilian citizen, you can apply for permanent residence at the Ministry of Justice through the Federal Police offices or at the embassy or Consulate of Brazil in your country. You must provide a marriage certificate and a witness statement. Holders of this type of visa must register with the Federal Police within 90 days of first entering Brazil. And the documents must be translated into Portuguese language.

- Legal residence in Brazil for one (1) year, if you are the father of a child, a citizen of Brazil.
- Children born in Brazil receive Brazilian citizenship automatically.

You need to prepare documents and submit them for Brazilian citizenship to the Registration Department (Divisão de Nacionalidade e Naturalização do Ministério da Justiça) . Minor children who were written to the submission automatically receive citizenship. Citizenship, if you have a work visa
You can get citizenship if you have a work visa. The visa is issued for two years, after two years, if the employee has not changed his position and has not become a criminal, the visa is extended for another two years. At the end of the fourth year, the employee can convert this visa to a permanent one. Under the terms of a work visa, foreigners can bring their spouses and children to Brazil, but family members are not allowed to work until the foreigner's visa is converted into a permanent visa.
A work visa is a long process of obtaining citizenship, you will have to wait four years to obtain a permanent residence permit, and then another four years before you can naturalize and obtain Brazilian citizenship.
Citizenship by marriage
There is an option to obtain citizenship on the basis of registration a marriage with a Brazilian citizen. If you are a foreigner, you will first need to get a tourist visa, then register a marriage in Brazil and open the process of obtaining permanent residence on the basis of marriage.
After registering your marriage, you can apply for a permanent certificate at your local Federal Police Office. The process of verifying and processing data can take from a few months to two years, although in small cities everything happens much faster. During all the paperwork, the local police may visit you once or twice to make sure that the marriage is not fictitious.
If you need to go abroad for a short time or you will be staying for some time outside of your place of permanent residence, this is possible, but you must inform the Federal Police about this.
After a year of living in Brazil after obtaining permanent residence based on marriage, you can apply for naturalization. You can’t be absent from the country for more than 30 days at a time or for a total of 90 days for several trips. In this case, your naturalization period won’t be counted and you will have to wait another year to apply for citizenship again.
Additional opportunities to obtain citizenship
Citizens of Portuguese-speaking countries, according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Brazil (Articles 12, II, a), can obtain Brazilian citizenship by living in Brazil continuously for one year and having moral integrity.
Foreign citizens who have lived in Brazil for more than 15 years
According to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Brazil (Articles 12, II, b), foreign citizens without a criminal record who have lived in Brazil for more than fifteen consecutive years can have Brazilian citizenship if they so require. No other conditions are required.
Brazil doesn’t prohibit a dual citizenship.
Brazil has introduced the possibility to enter the country without a vaccination certificate / passport, as well as the possibility to enter in the absence of a passport to travel abroad or other necessary documents (by decision of the Brazilian consular authorities, after granting a humanitarian visa).
