Cuban student visa (D-2) issued to foreigners who have been accepted to a Cuban educational institution. To apply for this type of Cuban visa, you also need the assistance of your chosen Cuban educational institution.
The following information must be provided to the university three months prior to arrival: student's full name, address, passport number, expiration date, date and place of birth, father's and mother's name, planned time of stay in Cuba, planned date of arrival in Cuba.
However, if your total stay, including any holiday time, exceeds four weeks when you arrive at your destination, the faculty will change your Tourist Card to a Student Visa, please note this.
Changing to a student visa costs 40 CUC ($37.58) for four weeks. Extension for a longer period costs 25 CUC ($24.05).
It is important to note that in some cases, such as when the course is for a shorter period of time, a student visa may not be required depending on nationality, so it is important to check before any visa applications that you have an obligation to study in Cuba before submitting an application.
To obtain a student visa to Cuba, you must collect the following necessary documents:
- Photocopies of relevant pages of your passport (personal information, date of issue/expiry date, visa stickers/stamps). Must be valid for at least 6 months after scheduled return
- Student's photo
- Completed visa application form for Cuba
- Enrollment/confirmation letter from an educational institution in Cuba
- Police clearance from your country
- A health certificate stating that you are not a carrier of an infectious disease
- For minors (under 18): permission to travel from parents or legal guardians
