The education system is traditionally divided into 4 levels: preschool education, primary education, secondary education and higher education.
There are only 3 higher education institutions in Dominica: All Saints University School of Medicine, School of Marine Biology and Institute of Tropical Marine Ecology. Degrees awarded by Dominica universities are internationally recognized. Graduates are successfully practicing their careers in various locations around the world.
Students who wish to study here have scholarship opportunities ranging from federal funding to private initiatives at colleges and universities.
To study at any of Dominica's universities, international students must obtain a Dominican student visa depending on their country of origin. A Dominica study visa is only issued by the Dominica Immigration Department. A Dominica student visa enables a foreign national to immigrate to Dominica on a temporary basis to complete a course of study in the country.
A study visa allows holders to live and work (on a limited basis) in Dominica for as long as they need to complete the course to help support themselves and their dependents.
Students who meet the following criteria have the right to obtain a visa:
- An acceptance letter confirming that the applicant has been offered a full-time place at a recognized educational institution must be submitted.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate proof of sufficient funds to support themselves in the country.
- It is necessary to prove that the cost of the course has been paid in full.
- Private health insurance must be arranged and documented.
- There must be a clear intention of the candidate to return to his country after the study period.

- The international passport valid for 6 months and its copy
- Identity document/resident visa in case of residence in another country
