Citizenship
The status of permanent residence was completely removed and replaced by obtaining citizenship through investment. As a result, the government stopped issuing PR cards and certificates.
The Grenada citizenship program for investment was launched in August 2013. Since then, the law on citizenship for investment has been changed four times, most recently on April 1, 2019.
The new amendments include:
1. Real Estate Investment has been reduced to 220,000 dollars USA as part of or co-investing in a share of at least 440,000 dollars USA and supporting real estate investment in Grenada for at least 5 years.
2. Withdrawal of permanent residence as a prerequisite for obtaining citizenship.
3. Dependent children between the ages from 18 to 30 no longer need to be enrolled in a higher education institution
4. Parents or grandparents over the age of 55 no longer need full support.
5. Secondary buyers of CBI properties in approved real estate projects can obtain citizenship.
Advantages of citizenship
- You don't have to visit the country to participate in the Grenada citizenship program, and you don't actually need to travel to the country to fill out an application.
- Zero tax: there are no taxes on income, wealth, or inheritance on the island.
- The Grenada passport provides visa-free travel to more than 153 countries, including the UK, EU Schengen countries and China. Grenada also offers its citizens access to an E2 USA investor visa.
- Investor Visa E2
- The E-2 Investor Visa Agreement signed between Grenada and the United States allows citizens of Grenada to do business in the United States and reside there. Many countries around the world, including China and India, do not have an E-2 agreement with the United States. In such circumstances, investors can first obtain Grenada citizenship and then apply for an E2 USA visa.
