Business visa to Indonesia
You must apply for an Indonesian business visa at the Indonesian embassy or consulate
There are two main types of Indonesian business visas: single-entry and multiple-entry visas.
A single-entry Indonesian business visa allows the holder to stay in the country for up to 60 days. Once you leave, you cannot re-enter with the same visa.
If you want to stay longer than 60 days, you will need to apply for a visa extension at the immigration office.
The multiple-entry business visa is valid for one year, during which you can stay in Indonesia several times for up to 60 days on each entry.
To obtain a multiple-entry business visa to Indonesia, the company or organization you visit in Indonesia must apply for a visa authorization from the General Directorate of Immigration in Jakarta.
When you apply for an Indonesian business visa, you must have a list of standard visa documents, as well as any documents required by the embassy/consulate.
This includes:
- Completed and signed Indonesia visa application form. You can get it on the embassy/consulate website or in their offices, depending on whichever is available.
- Your passport. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Indonesia.
- Also attach a copy of the passport.
- Your picture, glued in the designated place on the visa application form
- A copy of your onward or round-trip ticket.
- Proof that you have sufficient financial means to support yourself during your stay (for example, a bank statement).

- Full address and telephone number of the company/organization/institution.
- Number of days and entries for which you apply for a visa
- Invitation letter from a company, organization, or institution you are visiting in Indonesia
Similar to the cover letter, the invitation should be written on letterhead and include the following:
- Full address and telephone number of the company/organization/institution.
- Number of days and entries for which you apply for a visa
- Explain whether they are responsible for your accommodation and maintenance costs.
- Proof that you have paid the visa fee to Indonesia.
- If you are applying for a multiple-entry business visa: Letter of Visa Authorization from the General Directorate of Immigration in Indonesia. Your sponsor in Indonesia must receive this on your behalf.
- If you apply by mail: Attach a prepaid return envelope (stamped). The embassy / consulate will use the envelope to return your passport and documents after the visa is issued.
- If you are not a citizen of the country you live in: Copy of your valid residence permit / visa.
Indonesian visa fee
Indonesian visa fees are as follows:
- Single-entry business visa: $ 50
- Multiple-entry business visa: $ 100
Business visa extension to Indonesia
If you are applying for an Indonesian business visa and want to extend your stay, you must do so before the expiration of your current visa at the immigration office in Indonesia.
If you have received a multiple-entry visa, you do not need to apply for an extension. You can leave the country and re-enter, and you will automatically receive another 60 days.
Work visa
Provided you already have a job, obtaining a work visa to Indonesia includes the following steps:
- The employer must obtain a permit to work with the Indonesian government "Expatriate Employment Plan" (RPTKA = Rencana Penempatan Tenaga Kerja Asing).
- The employer receives the RPTKA from the Ministry of Labor of Indonesia.
- The employer applies for a work permit in Indonesia (IMTA = Ijin Mempekerjakan Tenaga Kerja Asing, which translates as "Employment Permit for Foreign Workers").
- Before applying, you must send the employer the necessary documents to apply, such as certificates of employment and education, passport copy, etc.
- The employer applies for a limited / temporary work visa (VITAS) to the Indonesian Investment Coordination Council (BKPM).
- The BKPM issues a letter of recommendation to the Department of Immigration of Indonesia.
- You must apply for an Indonesian work visa (aka VITAS) at the nearest Indonesian embassy / consulate. You need photocopies of RPTKA and IMTA.
- Once you arrive in Indonesia with a VITAS (visa), the immigration department will issue you with an ITAS (temporary stay permit). ITAS is a permit that allows you to live and work in Indonesia for up to a year (renewable). VITAS is a visa that allows you to enter Indonesia.
- Once the Department of Immigration has issued a temporary stay permit, you must apply to the Immigration Office for KITAS.
- Obtain a police report letter (STM) from the police department.
- Register with your local municipality to obtain a Temporary Resident Registration Certificate (SKPPS).
- Your employer must pay the Qualifications and Development Fund (DPKK).
DPKK is a monthly fee of $ 100.

What is the validity period of a work visa to Indonesia?
When you finally receive a completed work visa to Indonesia, it will be valid for a limited period of time, usually 3 months to one year.
In fact, you receive a KITAS or "temporary stay permit card" for employment purposes. Depending on the type of work you perform, your contract, and the decision of the immigration service, KITAS is issued for up to one year and can be extended until the expiration date.
After you have lived in Indonesia for up to three years with KITAS, you can apply for KITAP or "Permanent Residence Permit". KITAP is valid for five years and can be extended.
Can I extend my work visa to Indonesia?
Yes, you can. You will first receive a work visa to Indonesia (KITAS) for a period of 3 months to one year. You can extend this period until it ends. After you have lived in Indonesia for three years in a row, you have the right to apply for a permanent residence permit (KITAP), which is valid for five years and can be extended.
