What documents are required for admission to universities in Kosovo?
The following documents are required:
- An application for admission to the University;
- The certificate of Secondary Education;
- Certificates/diplomas;
- A copy of a valid passport and photo;
- A motivation letter;

- An insurance policy.
Depending on the University and program, additional documentation may be required.

Students who plan to study in Kosovo for a 16-week semester or longer must apply for a temporary residence permit for up to 1 year. In addition, if you are a foreign student and need a visa to enter Kosovo, you must also apply for an entry visa. Applications for an entry visa must be submitted at the nearest embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo at least 3 months before your arrival.

Temporary residence permission for the purpose of obtaining higher education and scientific research.
An application for a temporary residence permit is submitted to the relevant Kosovo authority only after students arrive in the country.
To obtain a temporary residence permit for Higher Education a foreigner must submit the following documents:
- A valid travel document with a validity period of at least 3 months longer than the period of the required temporary residence permit;
- Confirmation of admission to a higher education institution accredited in the Republic of Kosovo;
- Sufficient means of subsistence, which are confirmed by a bank statement or other notarized document proving that the foreigner will cover the living expenses;
- Proof of residence in the Republic of Kosovo, exact address of residence;
- Health insurance policy;
- Documents related to student exchange and youth mobility, or evidence of practices authorized by the organization, or based on international agreements, as well as agreements between universities;
To obtain a temporary residence permit for scientific research, a foreigner must submit the following documents:
- Invitation from a licensed institution in the Republic of Kosovo;
- 2.2. An agreement that must contain:
- name or purpose of the research activity or area of research;
- obligation of third-country nationals to attempt to complete the study activities;
- the obligation of the research organization to Accept third-country nationals in order to request the completion of activities;
- start and end date or estimated duration of research activity.

The Government, Higher Education Institutions, and other public or private organizations offer a range of scholarships and awards to help international students fund their studies in the country.
International students can apply for the following scholarships offered in Kosovo:
- Government scholarship for the Special Administrative Region of Kosovo. The scholarship is 10,000 dollars USA per year for international students.
- Self-funded post-secondary education fund. The scholarship is 13,000 dollars USA per year for international students for outstanding results.
- The Kosovo PhD Scholarship Program aims to attract the best students from all over the world to complete doctoral programs in the country. The scholarship scheme provides for an annual scholarship of approximately 30,000 dollars USA and travel assistance related to conferences and research of 1,300 per year for each recipient for a period of up to 3 years.
