The health system in Kosovo is poorly funded. Hospitals are lack of special equipment, and medicines and other basic necessities are not enough everywhere. Many doctors and nurses are lack of training in modern methods and practices.
—
Treatment requires a small cash payment (currently 4 euros), but you should make sure that you have proper travel health insurance.
The health insurance policy must cover any expenses that may arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical intervention, treatment in a medical facility, or death while staying in the Republic of Kosovo. The minimum coverage should be 30 thousand euros.
—
If you need emergency medical attention while traveling, phone the number 94 from your landline phone or 194 from your mobile phone and call an ambulance. You should contact your insurance/health company immediately if you are referred to a medical facility for treatment.
—
Issuance of visas for the purpose of treatment is not provided. If you are a citizen of a country with a visa-free regime from Kosovo, you do not need a visa to enter. If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa to Kosovo, you should apply for a regular visa at the nearest embassy.
Under the Citizenship Act, a child is granted Kosovo citizenship if both parents are Kosovo citizens at the time of the child's birth. If only one of the parents is a citizen of the Republic, the child will be able to obtain citizenship under the following conditions:
- the child was born in Kosovo;
- the child was born outside Kosovo, and one of the parents is a stateless person or has unknown citizenship;
- the child was born outside of Kosovo, and one of the parents has a different citizenship, but the parents agree that the child will receive Kosovo citizenship.
If the parents are unknown and the child is identified on the territory of Kosovo, he has the right to obtain Kosovo citizenship.
—
If the child was born in Kosovo and the parents have citizenship of another country, but have a valid residence permit in Kosovo, the child will have the right to obtain Kosovo citizenship with the consent of both parents.
