Immigration to Mozambique for Moldova citizenship

Is issued to spouses and underage children, or children with disabilities of foreign citizens, that have an employment permit with the right to stay in the country for less than one year, or with the possibility of extension.

As soon as a foreign female citizen got married to a citizen of Mozambique, she can apply for citizenship.

If a foreign male citizen got married to a citizen of Mozambique, he has to reside in this country for over five years. Only after this period, he can apply for citizenship.

You can obtain citizenship of this country after completing the following requirements:

An aspiring citizen has to renounce former citizenship, has to be over 18 and reside in the country for more than five years. 

Dual citizenship is not recognized in Mozambique.

An exception: if a child was born abroad and acquired citizenship of that country, prior to turning 18 they can keep dual citizenship. After this they have to renounce the foreign citizenship, in order to prevent the Mozambique one from being annulled. 

Citizenship can be lost voluntarily, or involuntarily.

• Involuntarily 

There are some reasons for involuntary exemption:

• If an individual is voluntarily obtaining a foreign citizenship;
• If an individual becomes a foreign servant without the permission of Mozambique’s government.

Foreigners can own real estate through different mechanisms, such as partnership with a Mozambique citizen; through an authorized project or a national campaign; through acquisition of a residence permit or an existing building. The project permit is required by the state before the start of construction of any project. Protocols for obtaining these rights are extensive and include, but are not limited to, environmental impact assessment, architectural and engineering specifications, and land impact surveys.

Foreigners can acquire land use rights (DUAT) only if they have the status of a foreign investor and have lived in the country for at least 5 years (individuals), or if the company is registered in Mozambique. The land must be commissioned within six months to avoid revoking the concession.

An investment visa must be used within sixty (60) days from the date of issue. In addition, this type of visa can be extended for the same period, if the reasons that became the basis for its issuance remain.

This type of visa entitles its owner to apply for a residence permit in accordance with Mozambique legislate.
