Foreigners from visa-free countries can enter Nicaragua for treatment without additional visas, provided that their stay does not exceed 7-180 days (depending on the country you are entering from). If a foreigner goes to Nicaragua for long-term treatment, he/she should apply for a residence permit upon arrival.
Foreigners who travel to Nicaragua under the visa regime must apply for a residence permit. The fee for a Nicaraguan residence permit is approximately $200. It is issued by the Immigration department of Nicaragua.
