Foreigners from countries that allow visa-free travel can enter Macedonia for treatment without an additional issuance of a visa under the condition that the length of their stay will not exceed 90 days. If the foreigner is coming to North Macedonia to receive a long-term treatment (more than three months), they should obtain a visa. 

Foreigners traveling to Macedonia under the visa regime should obtain a visa for treatment abroad.

A foreigner has to receive their visa for entry to North Macedonia and can stay in the country only with the purpose, for which the visa was issued. 

A foreigner applies for a visa to a diplomatic or consular representative office of the Republic of North Macedonia not sooner than 6 months and not later than 15 days prior to the beginning of the planned trip.

We would like to add that all persons traveling to Macedonia for treatment are advised to indicate during the visa application process that the visa application is for medical reasons. This way, consulate officials will be able to take into account the wishes and purpose of the applicant's trip at the very beginning of the procedure and make a decision based on this information.

Please note that when crossing the border, border guards may ask you for an invitation from the clinic or medical facility where you will be treated. An invitation (certificate) from a medical institution should be obtained before crossing the border.
