From September 29, 2025, New Zealand is opening a new long-term category – the Parent Boost Visitor Visa. It will become one of the most generous visitor visas for parents of citizens and residents of the country, allowing them to spend much more time with their family. Representatives of any country in the world can obtain a permit, including citizens of Israel, Guinea and Congo.

We have collected everything that is currently known about the new permit for parents in this article.

Main advantages of the Parent Boost Visitor visa in New Zealand

- Stay in New Zealand for up to 5 years on one visa.

- Unlimited number of exits and entries during the validity period.

- The ability to apply for a second five-year visa, which in total gives up to 10 years of stay.

- The visa does not lead to obtaining a permanent residence permit, but creates a long-term and predictable corridor for parents.

Important conditions of Parent Boost Visa in New Zealand

Intermediate check for Parent Boost Visa holders in New Zealand

Between the 3rd and 4th years of the visa, applicants must

- temporarily leave New Zealand;

- provide a new medical certificate;

- confirm continuity of insurance coverage.

Only after this is it possible to apply for a second 5-year visa.

For many migrant families, short-term visitor visas were a serious obstacle: parents could only spend a few months with their children and grandchildren. The new Parent Boost program allows you to plan your life for years ahead, maintain close contact and actively participate in family life.

At the same time, the New Zealand government clearly distinguishes temporary visits from migration - Parent Boost does not lead to a PMP and is intended specifically for long, but limited-time visits.
