The program for acquiring citizenship through investment in Saint Kitts and Nevis is the oldest such program in the world, having been launched in 1984. Requirements for nationality by investment include payment of fees, which in 2017 were $50,000.00 for the primary applicant, $25,000 per minor child or the primary spouse, $50,000.00 for qualified dependents of legal majority, as well as an application and due diligence fees. The primary applicant must be 18 years of age or older and must make a minimum investment by real estate purchase, contribution to the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation, or a contribution to the Hurricane Relief Fund of the country. The minimum real estate investment is $400,000; Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation contribution is $250,000.00 for a single applicant and $450,000.00 for a family of seven; and Hurricane Relief Fund contribution is $150,000.00 for a family of four, as of 2017.Agents of the Citizenship by Investment Unit are responsible for processing applications. Applicants must pay the non-refundable application fees, provide documentation as required for adequate background checks, and obtain a police certificate.Successful applicants must make the specified monetary distributions to purchase real estate or contribute to the appropriate organizations within three months.
