Biometrics for faster border crossing
Starting June 2, 2025, Robert L. Bradshaw Airport in Saint Kitts and Nevis will introduce a biometric entry system for travelers who have obtained an electronic travel authorization (eTA). This new system significantly reduces border control times by using facial recognition technology for quick identification.
How does it work?
1. To use biometrics, you must first apply for an eTA and receive approval. You will then be able to use the fast lane at passport control at the airport.
2. As part of the eTA application process, you will be asked to scan your face using a mobile device. This photo will be used for biometric identification at the border.
3. When you go through airport control, the system will automatically identify you using facial recognition, allowing you to pass through control without physical contact with a passport control officer. This not only speeds up the process but also improves security by minimizing the human factor.
Remember that although a visa is not required, you must:
1. Have a passport that is valid for at least six months after the date of departure from the country and one blank page for a visa.
2. Obtain an ETA and medical insurance.
3. Keep your ticket reservations for both legs of your journey.
4. Keep all documents required for your next destination.
5. Keep documents confirming the purpose of your trip.
6. Keep proof of sufficient funds for the planned duration of your stay.
