If international students intend to study in Tuvalu, they must obtain an entry and residence permit. Entry and residence permits to Tuvalu are also issued at the airport entrance upon arrival. A foreign citizen must provide the appropriate and necessary documents to an immigration officer. These permits are valid for up to one year and can be extended up to three times over a five-year period.
Obtaining a study permit allows a foreign national to immigrate to Tuvalu on a temporary basis in order to complete a course of study in the country. Tuvalu has two higher education institutions: the University of the South Pacific Tuvalu and the Tuvalu College of Sciences.
You must meet the following criteria:
- It is necessary to provide an acceptance letter confirming that the applicant has been offered a full-time place of study at a recognized educational institution.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves in the country.
- You must confirm that the tuition fee has been paid in full.
- It is necessary to apply for private health insurance and provide documentary evidence of this.
- The candidate must have an obvious intention to return to their country after the end of the training period.
Required documents to be submitted to the Tuvalu immigration officer:
- Valid passport
- Two photos with the format of the passport
- Your birth certificate
- Your secondary education certificate or other previous academic qualifications
- A medical report issued by a certified healthcare professional stating that you are not infected with any infectious diseases. The report must be issued within the last three months.
- If you are under the age of 18: travel permission from your parents or legal guardians.
