In order to visit Iceland for medical treatment, you need to obtain a medical Schengen visa at the visa application center of your country of residence.
A Schengen medical visa is a type of Category "C" permit that allows people to enter Schengen member states to receive medical therapy or treatment for up to 90 days over a 180-day period. Although they are usually issued as a one-time type, in some cases you can also apply for a double or multiple type.
Who can get a medical Schengen visa?
If you wish to receive treatment in Iceland with this permit, you must meet the following conditions:
You must reside in the country where you are applying. If you live on the basis of a residence permit in a foreign country, you can apply to the relevant authority that issues the visa.
You must have a valid passport that meets all the requirements.
The sole purpose of your visit should be to receive medical therapy or treatment.
You should be able to confirm your medical condition and need treatment.
You must have sufficient funds to cover all expenses for the entire period of your stay in the country. Otherwise, you must be sponsored by someone else who will cover your expenses.
If you are accompanying a patient, you should be able to demonstrate your relationship with them.
