A foreign national wishing to enter PNG must obtain a visa at one of the PNG diplomatic missions, unless they are a citizen of one of the countries eligible for an e-visa. All visitors must have a passport valid for at least 6 months.

eVisa
Starting from November 2018, citizens of all countries eligible for a visa on arrival can also obtain a 60-day eVisa. The 30-day eVisa is also available to citizens of the following countries:
Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, China, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritius, Namibia, Russia, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Vietnam, Zambia.
This is by far the most efficient way to obtain a permit to travel to the country, as it eliminates the need to personally visit the nearest diplomatic mission or wait in long immigration lines to apply for a visa to Papua New Guinea upon arrival at the border.
Once approved, the Papua New Guinea e-Visa is sent to the traveler by email and can then be printed to present to border authorities upon arrival.
To obtain a Papua New Guinea e-Visa, applicants must meet the necessary requirements.
Applicants must fill out an online application form with their details and provide the following items:
- A passport issued by an eligible sovereign state with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of arrival in the country and at least one page stamped with PNG entry
- A copy of the main page of the passport, which includes the name of the person, date of birth, citizenship, passport number, date of issue and validity of the passport, as well as the applicant's signature
- Active email account for receiving eVisa
- Payment method (credit or debit card)
The passport used to fill out the online Papua New Guinea visa application form must be presented at the border control along with the e-visa to enter the country.
If the passport used to apply is lost, stolen, damaged, or otherwise invalidated, the traveler must re-apply using their new passport.

An online transit visa is not required if the passenger stays in the international transit zone of the airport for no longer than 8 hours.
Do I have to pay for transit in Papua New Guinea?
If you are a transit passenger and you leave the arrivals hall going straight to the departure hall, you do not pay any fees, but if you leave the terminal, you will need to pay K100.00.
A permit is required to enter Papua New Guinea with pets. Applications can be submitted to the National Administration of Quarantine and Inspection of Agriculture (NAQIA). Permits are valid for 3 months. Dogs and cats entering Papua New Guinea must be identified by a microchip or ear tattoo.
Quarantine
All pets must spend 48 hours in quarantine on arrival in Papua New Guinea - all fees are payable directly at Kila Quarantine Station. Pets can only arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday. Your pet will be picked up from the airport and taken to the quarantine station.
Minimum age for dogs
The minimum age for entry is 6 months - it is possible to apply for a permit to bring a dog into Papua New Guinea that is under 6 months of age, however, it is up to NAQIA to approve the permit or not.

Follow the speed limit. The Traffic Rules state that in urban areas the speed should be 60 km/h. Speed limits are relaxed on motorways, reaching around 75 km/h. Drivers should reduce their speed to 25 km/h at pedestrian crossings, schools, hospitals, and intersections. In summary, 60 km/h is the standard speed limit; 75 km/h on the highway
Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts
The maximum permissible blood alcohol content is 0.08%

Police regularly check vehicle registrations in Port Moresby at night. People involved in an accident should go to the nearest police station and not stay at the scene of the accident. There are gas stations in all provincial areas. They usually don't accept credit cards.
