For the purpose of childbirth, you can open a C-3 visa
Why do parturient women choose Korea for childbirth?
- The level of medicine. Korean clinics aren’t worse than the European or American ones, since they use similar Ultrasound technology, are equipped with similar modern operational and maternity wards.
- Comfortable conditions. Patients live in wards with television, air conditioning, and a sofa for an attendant. Three meals a day, you can often choose a menu – European or Korean. There is no need to pack a bag full of things, the clinic will give you everything up to a toothbrush.
- Attentive staff. Doctors and nurses are friendly and welcoming, and staff translators accompany the patient from the moment of arrival in Korea until discharge.
- Special treatment of pregnant women. In Korea, the comfort of the mother is put first – it is believed that she will be able to take care of the child only if she herself is healthy and full of strength. After giving birth, Korean and some foreign women live in a babymoon facility, which is a hotel where women rest under the supervision of doctors and learn how to properly take care of a newborn, massage techniques, and feeding.
What do you need to know before the trip?
Doctors in Korea do not intervene so actively in the process of pregnancy and childbirth, only in extreme cases. Less common are such phenomena as: placement "for safekeeping", not prescribing many medicine and vitamins.
Despite such a loyal approach, the future mother's condition is carefully monitored:
- Ultrasound is performed at each appointment;
- If the patient has complaints, additional tests are prescribed.
Another feature is that doctors do not tell the gender of the child until the last moment, even to foreign patients. This is a peculiar characteristic of all Asian countries, where earlier pregnancies were often terminated after learning that a girl would be born.
How much does childbirth cost in South Korea?
- Natural childbirth costs from $3,000, anesthesia is additionally paid;
- Caesarean section - from $5,000;
- Room accommodation - from $50 to $500 depending on the category (multiple, single, deluxe).
Some clinics include hospitalization in the cost of treatment, some ask to pay separately. Doctor’s consultations, ultrasound and other examinations are paid for separately too.
